There have been scattered showers and thunderstorms around in Montana since Monday (July 21, 2025) as an upper-level storm system has been impacting the state. Most locations in north-central Montana have received between .15" and .75" of rain since Sunday evening, but some locations, especially in Glacier County, have received higher amounts. Both Browning and Saint Mary received well over 1" of rain as a steady rain was falling there for most of the day on Monday.

With precipitation being scattered in nature, that means that, in some instances, the precipitation amounts varied a lot over a short distance. Great Falls was a good example of this as the airport on the southwest side of town only picked up .16" of rain, but Malmstrom Air Force Base on the east side of town received .55" of rain.

As we go through Tuesday evening and night, the scattered showers and thunderstorms will gradually taper off. We are then going to have decreasing clouds on Wednesday with just some lingering showers and thunderstorms around east of I-15 as this storm system departs our area.
