A man has been charged for shoplifting from a Missoula grocery store and assaulting a store employee as he was trying to get away.

Missoula Police responded to a grocery store on 800 block of West Broadway Tuesday at 5:20 p.m. for a report of a physical disturbance.

Officers were informed that a shoplifting suspect, identified as 24-year-old Antonio Morena, was attempting to steal wine and assaulted an employee as he was trying to leave.

The grocery store manager tackled Morena to the ground.

In charging documents, Morena told police he went to the store to steal alcohol for his friends. He believed employees would not be able to stop him.

Moreno was charged with felony robbery and appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Wednesday afternoon.
