The Helena Police Department has been inundated with calls ever since Governor Steve Bullock announced a Shelter in Place order.

HPD Chief Steve Hagen says, "The order means you go about your daily business that you can and should do, but you stay home as much as you can. We are getting a lot of questions on whether or not someone needs a letter that says they're an essential employee or not, or some document that says they can be working. We are not checking people's papers. We are not making sure they are essential employees. There's going to be folks that need to be home, but a lot of people need to be out and about to do their daily things. You can go to the gas station and get gas, you can go the pharmacy, all of those things you have to do for daily life continue to do them."

Chief Hagen added, it is important to continue to social distance, no large groups, only 10 people or less, with social distancing six feet apart.
