We're still tracking rain this Monday.

Fortunately it's mostly light, and will clear out overnight.

However, much heavier rain is in the forecast.

By Tuesday afternoon rain showers will begin to move through the state.

Heavier rain bands will develop late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning for places like Great Falls, Helena, and Lewistown.

By Wednesday afternoon some mountain snow will even be possible in Southern Montana, but it's heavier rain forming in Northeast Montana that will be the bigger concern.

There, heavy rain looks to linger all the way through Wednesday night and into early Thursday.

Rain totals exceeding two inches are not out of the question.

The National Weather Service in Glasgow has already put Northeast Montana under an Areal Flood Watch for Wednesday and Thursday.

Current forecasts show flooding is likely along the Milk River, and along many of its tributaries and smaller waterways in the area.

Stay tuned for updates as the heavy rain draws closer.
