Brianna Juneau has the full forecast in the video below, featuring unseasonably cool mid-May temperatures and chances of rain:
WEATHER DISCUSSION: Cooler temperatures for most areas in the state begun today; high temperatures in the 60’s for western portions and 80’s/90’s for eastern portions. Cloud cover increases tonight along with low temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s. Gusty winds will start off the night along the Rocky Mountain Front before shifting east, gusts up to 40/50 mph at times.
An upper-level trough continues to slowly move over the region. This is bringing daily precipitation chances to the area this evening through Thursday. Expect passing showers and isolated thunderstorms across North Central and Central Montana. The main threat from any thunderstorm will be gusty winds, lightning, and small hail. A cold front moving through Southwestern Montana this evening will lower snow-levels to higher-elevation passes around 7000 feet in Southwestern Montana, and some accumulating snow along the continental divide.
Tomorrow through Thursday temperatures will remain around seasonal averages in the 50’s. Expect mostly cloudy/cloudy skies tomorrow with mainly afternoon shower chances.
On Friday, the upper-level trough begins to move out of the region, allowing temperatures to warm up slightly and slightly dry out the area. High pressure briefly entering will increase instability, bringing more chances for thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. On Sunday another cold front will move through bringing more cooler temperatures and precipitation to the area.
