The 2020 games will feature several new sports including skateboarding.
Skateboarding will have two events, street and park, and have men's and women's divisions. A total of 12 medals will be awarded in the sport.
We stopped by the skate park in Helena today. Young skaters told us that it was about time the sport be showcased on one of the world's biggest stages and they are excited to watch.
“[Skateboarding] finally being recognized to go to the Olympics is just super awesome. It will open so many doors for everybody,” says Andrew Fields, a 13-year-old skateboarder.
Other new sports include karate, sport climbing, and surfing.
Baseball and softball will be returning to the games as well, and there will be a new 3x3 basketball event.
