This upcoming school year will look a lot different for students in the Bozeman school district, including more time spent at home.

Firefighters with the Bozeman Fire Department urges parents to set some time aside and prepare their children if an emergency happens at home while they’re home alone or even if parents are home.

The department says no one likes to experience unplanned mishaps but everyone can prepare for them whether in elementary, junior, or high school.

“Have a plan if something’s going to happen. If the smoke alarms go off, what is going to happen next? Test the kids when that occurs, you know. Send them off for the evening and see if they know they need to go outside and have a meeting place. But most importantly, let them know to call 911 and their address in which we need to respond,” explained Captain Josh Charles with the Bozeman Fire Department.

The Bozeman Fire Department has more resources on coming up with a plan on their Facebook page.
