Planners transformed the 4th Annual East Helena Out of the Darkness Campus Walk into a virtual event.

This allows participants to walk remotely tomorrow and then share their activities via social media. Doing so will help walkers to maintain appropriate social distancing while showing their support for the cause of suicide prevention.

Organizers also plan to post videos of local nonprofits to form a virtual resource fair that gives easy access to participants.

This suicide prevention event and others like it help fund education, support programs and its goal to reduce the annual U.S. rate of suicide to 20% by the year 2025.

“Especially during this time, it’s important that we walk and still hold these events, however and whatever modality we can to continue our efforts to save lives and to continue to help those who are affected by suicide,” says Tova Reddick-Starkel, the Virtual Walk Chair.

While the Walk is a fundraiser, it is free to participate in the event.
