Trying to buy a window air conditioning unit in Montana can be difficult right now with summer in full swing. However, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is showing there’s merit to the mantra of 'reduce, reuse, recycle.'

The ReStore, a store that recycles and upcycles various products received a donation over 30 air conditioning units earlier in the summer.

ReStore manager Jamie Rye said the units they have in stock came from an old office building in the downtown Helena area and though they’re not shiny and new, the units work well, help keep waste out the landfill, and proceeds from the sales go back into helping the Helena community.

“There was an organization downtown that had these extra units and they brought them to us and for them, it worked out because we're keeping it out of the dump, you know, keeps a lot of waste out of the dump," said Rye "We test them all out, make sure they work, and then when we sell them, the proceeds go back into the community to help get people housing.”
