The Great Northern Carousel will be reopening Wednesday May 20th at 2 p.m.

Due to Governor Bullock’s restrictions in phase one of reopening the state, Great Northern Carousel will only be serving ice cream.

General Manager Keith Brugman says the carousel fell under the ‘interactive museums’ category in phase one of reopening, and for that reason they cannot allow people to use the carousel, just yet.

Starting Wednesday at 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. they will be open to the public and serving ice cream.

Staff at the carousel have gone to great lengths to follow proper social distancing guidelines, and when you enter the building you will notice there are bright orange lines all over the floor of the building, marking those guidelines.

Brugman added, “We'll have it (the carousel) running it will be a great exit feature I guess you could say, but feel free to come in grab some scoops of Wilcoxsons ice cream."

As you exit the building you will be allowed to walk past the carousel and watch it in action, but again, no one will be allowed to ride the carousel during phase one.

Brugman is hopeful by phase two of reopening in the state they can open the carousel at a limited capacity and once again offer a fun attraction to children and adults in the Helena area.
