The Lincoln County Sheriff's office has adopted two new officers.

Lincoln County Sheriff Darren Short says the department is thrilled to have two dogs -- Mila and Argos -- on board.

They were able to purchase the dogs from a training program in Indiana with the help of the Lincoln County DUI Task Force and the Flathead Electric Round-Up for Safety Grant.

Sheriff Short says the dogs are an excellent tool and they will help not just their department but others in Northwest Montana as well.

"The two new canines that Flathead County has and our two canines, as well as the handlers, will all be trained the same way," Sheriff Short said.

"If one of their dogs isn't available and they need a narcotics canine our officers can respond over there and all of the patrols in both counties we used to the way these dogs work," he added.

Lincoln County Unite for Youth is accepting tax-deductible donations to go toward repaying the loan and buying the dogs new toys and beds.
