A heads up for snowmobilers and those of us who like to take advantage of the state’s groomed trails - Fees for some trail passes are going up.
For the 2019-2020 season, Montana residents can get a snowmobile trail pass for $20, which is good for two seasons.
Out-of-state visitors will need a non-resident temporary permit, which costs $35, up from $25 last season.
All of the revenue from those passes goes to the snowmobile program and upkeep for the trails.
“Every year, the cost of snowmobile trail grooming and grooming equipment increases,” said Seth McArthur, Snowmobile Program Manager. “The new permit fees will help Montana’s 25 Snowmobile Clubs meet the rising cost of grooming the 4000 miles of designated snowmobile trails in Montana”
In addition to trail grooming and maintenance, $.50 from each Non-resident Temporary Use Permit goes to support Search and Rescue efforts across Montana.
The passes may be purchased from local vendors or online at https://app.mt.gov/als/index/index.html [app.mt.gov] .
