HELENA, Mont. — St. Peter's Health in Helena is restricting visitors after an increase in influenza and respiratory illness cases in the community, the hospital announced Wednesday.

The hospital said the restrictions are being implemented at the Regional Medical Center.

"While the restrictions are in effect, anyone with cold- or flu-like symptoms may not enter the hospital unless they are seeking care," the hospital said.

These symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Nasal congestion

The hospital advises visitors who don't have these symptoms and are visiting a loved one in the hospital to wash or sanitize their hands frequently to avoid getting sick or spreading illness to others.

Specific visitation hours, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., are not affected by the restrictions.
