KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (WFTS) — Whether it’s the pandemic, the economy, the incidents that have invoked racial tension and the unrest that took place across the country, 2020 has been a challenging year for many of us.

As these incidents have formed a dark cloud over the 2020 calendar year, a Wisconsin farmer planted millions of sunflowers in hopes of adding some brightness to our day.

“Man, it's such a depressing time, what can we do to give somebody something fun to do?” Scott Thompson, manager of Thompson Strawberry Farm, told ABC-affiliate station WISN-TV.

Thompson’s 22 acres of fields are covered in more than 2 million sunflowers, according to WISN-TV.

“What a way to make people happy than a sea of flowers, you know you can't come here and not smile,” Thompson told WISN-TV.

Located less than 10 miles from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Thompson Strawberry Farm has been growing strawberries for more than 70 years, according to the farm’s website. Scott is the family’s fourth-generation strawberry farmer.
