Montana’s unemployment rate holds steady at 3.4%

Montana’s unemployment rate remained at 3.4% in December, with 1,200 jobs added over the month.

Total employment, which includes agricultural, payroll, and self-employed workers, grew by 1,200 jobs in December with similar growth in the labor force of 1,400 workers, according to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.

The lowest Montana jobless rate was 1.9% in Carter County while the highest unemployment rate sat at 8.5% in Lincoln County.

  • Ravalli County: 4.2%
  • Lake County: 4.3%
  • Flathead Indian Reservation: 4.6%
  • Flathead County: 5.0%
  • Sanders County: 6.1%
  • Granite County: 6.4%
  • Mineral County: 6.5%

The U.S. unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.5% in December.
