An ongoing winter storm has prompted officials to close a section of Interstate 15 in Idaho.
The Idaho State Patrol reports that blowing and drifting snow -- along with heavy snowfall -- have created hazardous conditions on I-15 from the Montana border to Dubois, Idaho.
The Idaho Transportation Department is closing the road from the Montana border to milepost 167. Because the surrounding areas are experiencing similar conditions, there is no detour from that area.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or find alternate routes if possible.
The winter storm also forced the Montana Department of Transportation to close a section of Interstate 90 over Hometake Pass near Butte earlier on Wednesday.
