Summer isn’t over yet.

Here’s how you can stay cool on hot summer days, while saving on your energy bills.

First, keep blinds and windows closed during the day to keep heat from entering your home.

Things like cooking can also make your home warm during a hot summer day, so maybe use the outdoor grill or the microwave.

Waiting until the sun goes down to run your dishwasher or dry your clothes can also help keep the home more comfortable.

TVs can actually generate quite a bit of heat so if you stand in front of your television set and you feel that heat coming off that TV, there’s a reason for that. It’s generating heat it’s using energy, at least make sure you’re turning it off when your not in the room.

One final tip: if you do decide to leave your air conditioner on all day, set the thermostat at 78 degrees when you are home and 85 degrees when you are way.
