The Lewis & Clark County Tap Room was a recipe of kindness being stirred-up around the valley on Sunday.

It was their second year hosting a chili cook-off and with the wild September snow, it was the perfect meal to bring the community together.

The band Moonshiners played for guests and they dipped and sipped on authentic chili made by the E Clampus Vitus members, a non-profit organization that works to preserve Montana’s western heritage.

All entrance fees of five dollars were donated to Helena Food Share.

Heidi O’Brien, Communication and Events Manager for the food bank, appreciated the generosity of the cook-off and the impact it has.

“It's just really neat that a community group gets together and does this event and helps benefit Helena Food Share. You know, one in seven people in Helena, Montana, experience hunger insecurity and events like this just make such a difference,” said O’Brien.

She continued, “Not only does it help get exposure in our community, but the money goes directly back to everything we can provide and feed Helena...so, it's a big, big impact.”
