BUTTE – Officials in Butte broke ground Tuesday afternoon on a $10 million veterans home that was decades in the making.
Local, state and federal leaders gathered for the ceremony celebrating the construction of Southwest Montana Veterans Home off Blacktail Loop south of Butte.
The 60-bed retirement home for veterans was first proposed in the early 1990s.
“It was important to Butte. Butte had worked on this for decade after decade after decade, and in the end, we got her done,” U.S. Senator Jon Tester said.
The project is expected to be complete by the fall of 2020.
