SUN RIVER – A structure fire blazed in Sun River early Saturday afternoon, totaling a garage – but leaving none injured.

Neither accidents nor injuries were reported at 66 Sun River Cascade Road, although the resident’s garage has been deemed a total loss.

Reports came into the Sun River Volunteer Fire Department around 1:37 p.m. that a structure had been fully engulfed in flames. Units from Vaughn, Sun Prairie, Manchester, Fairfield, Fort Shaw, Simms, and Sun River responded immediately.

The Montana Highway Patrol was also on scene.

While the cause of the fire is still being determined, Roger Lindquist, Sun River Volunteer Fire Department chief, told MTN News on Saturday that he can confirm there were several old vehicles inside the garage at the time of the incident.

Lindquist said there is a possibility the vehicles could be linked to the cause of the fire, but emergency services are continuing to investigate. He added that the fire was extinguished swiftly.

“Crews are currently in the mop-up phase,” he said.

This is a developing story, and MTN News will provide updated information as to the cause of the fire if and when it becomes available.
