A new piece of art at ZooMontana has a message of uprising and elevating beyond any struggle or setback.

Artist Carlin Bear Don’t Walk is working with Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders and the zoo to create a painting called Dream Chasers.

The project came from a tribal opioid response grant for Yellowstone County.

Bear Don't Walk is from the Northern Cheyenne Reservation, has been a member of the Crow Tribe and said that the painting is for all tribes.

The painting shows where Native Americans started, where they’ve been, where they are now and where they are going.

The art and its message is aimed at native and non-native American kids and adults.

"It's one of the main things,” Bear Don’t Walk said. “It's for them, give them something to look forward to, give them something that inspires them. Feel you give back to the community like that. That's the biggest thing. That's what it's all about. Being able show them the right way to do stuff and keep them focused in life."

About 100 people add their touches to help finish the painting.
