The coronavirus outbreak has changed a lot of things for a lot of people. For one local organization, it’s changed how they get people registered to vote.
MontPIRG , a grassroot organization, normally gets students on Montana State University’s campus registered to vote, but with students away from campus and people social distancing, they’ve had to come up with new ways to get people registered.
And with the June Primary approaching, it’s critical to get people registered.
“We partnered with numerous businesses around the state and they’ve agreed to host our voter registration drop boxes and people can maintain social distancing by just filling out the form beforehand and then dropping in the box for us to pick up and deliver them,” said Elise Striebel with MontPIRG.
In addition to these dropboxes, residents can also register to vote on MontPIRG’s website even if you’ve had to temporarily move out of state because of the virus. You can also access voter registration forms here .
