Flathead Electric Cooperative issues scam warning

Posted
and last updated

The Flathead Electric Cooperative is warning the public about a phone scam affecting some of its members.

According to the Co-op, some members have received fraudulent texts or phone calls from people posing as FEC employees.

The imposters threaten to shut off power to the home or business if payment is not made immediately.

In some cases, the caller ID function on the telephone lists Flathead Electric Co-op.

FEC wants to remind members that it's not their policy to threaten with immediate disconnect.

If you should receive a similar call, do not share any personal or financial information.

You are asked to contact FEC and local law enforcement agencies immediately if illegal activity is suspected.
