Helena residents may have noticed smoke on Mount Helena Tuesday, which is the result of a controlled burn.
Tuesday’s burn took place on the northeast slope of the city park between the Powerline and 1906 trails.
The City of Helena’s Parks and Recreation department will perform prescribed burn operations this week as part of forest management on Mount Helena.
According to the City of Helena Dispatch Center, the operations will produce a large column of smoke and people are asked not to call the dispatch center to report it.
If you would like to know more about the burn, you can contact the Parks Department at 406-447-8463.
