St. Peter’s Health has announced the location and plans for their new clinic in Townsend.

The site of the new clinic will be on 3.29 acre parcel of land between the Family Dollar and the Townsend Post Office.

“We’re thrilled to be opening this new facility to better serve our patients in Townsend by bringing their care closer to home,” said St. Peter’s Health CEO Wade Johnson. “We’ve been serving Broadwater County for over a hundred years, and we have thousands of patients who drive into Helena for their care. Our new clinic will make it possible for them to continue receiving the same high quality care and access to important medical services, without leaving their local community.”

A temporary clinic will open at the location in the first quarter of 2020, with a permanent center slated for 2021.

The temporary clinic will be housed in a new medical modular building with approximately 3,000 square feet of clinic space.

The facility will allow patients to access walk-in and appointment-based primary care services as well as lab services, diagnostic imaging services like x-ray and ultrasound.

St. Peter’s Health is already in the process of recruiting at least one primary care physician who will live and work full time in the Townsend.

“The intent is to have permanent physician doctor in Townsend along with our rotating specialists,” said Kendra Lenhardt, Director of Clinic Business Operation. “We’ll have an Urgent Care as well and some nurse practitioners or physician assistant to help out too.”

St. Peter’s expects to invest close to $10 million during this initial phase.

Long-term plans include offering telemedicine services in the clinic, allowing patients to connect with providers outside of Townsend.
