Before the pandemic, expecting mothers could attend in person classes to learn about the birth process, but since the coronavirus hit, those classes have been canceled.

St. Peter's Health in Helena announced they will be holding online birth classes for all soon-to-be parents.

There are several classes to choose from, and all classes are free and will be held virtually.

The classes range from infant CPR all the way to post-partum recovery, and child car seat safety.

All the classes begin at 5:30 p.m and most end by 7:30 p.m.

You must register for the class online, and classes run from September 10th all the way until December 17th.

Brittany Ross a registered nurse at St. Pete’s says, "Research has really shown the clear benefits of women taking childbirth classes prenatally. Research has shown they have an increased chance of having an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and they are unlikely to encounter unnecessary medical interventions during childbirth.”

Kathy Swanson is also a registered nurse and lactation consultant. She says, “Just to have that familiar face, it decreases a lot of the anxiety that parents have moms and dads just love it when they see one of us on the floor after they have met us in classes."

St. Peters Health is also offering online tour videos for expecting mothers and their partners, so they know where to go when the time comes to welcome their baby.
