This Friday is America Recycles Day!

406 Recycling will start formally collecting electronics at people's homes -- beginning tomorrow.

They'll pick up outdated or unwanted items, like computers, televions, personal devices like laptops, and entertainment systems.

406 Recycling says they're launching the new service because many people say that they can't transport heavy, outdated electronics.

The company says, depending on what needs to be collected, most services will be within the base rate of $50 per pickup, with additional fees for multiple CRT televisions, items requiring staff to use stairs, and mileage for household more than 5 miles outside of the City of Helena, East Helena, or Montana City.

406 Recycling already provides electronics recycling and data destruction collection to businesses throughout the greater Helena area and across the state.

"Our initial focus has been on business collection and services to local governments," says company owner Matt Elsaesser," for household collection we provide monthly community collection events in partnership with Good Samaritan." "However, we know that not everyone can transport their electronics and we have been providing residential collection for residents on a case by case basis," he added.

Elsaesser notes that "America Recycles Day is an important time to look at how we can all reduce our environmental impact and benefit our community with recycling. There are challenges to recycling effectively but we need to overcome those challenges to continue to realize the substantial environmental benefits that recycling provides. Recycling reduces waste. Recycling reduces the energy and resource need for new production in everything from a soda can at the ballgame, newsprint at home, to concrete and asphalt in our roads and buildings."

More details will be online at 406Recycling.com as of November 15 or by calling 406 Recycling at (406) 449 - 6008.
