Man found dead in Missouri River has been identified

The man found dead in the Missouri River several days ago has been identified as Victor John Struss.

At about 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 1st, Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Rainbow Dam for a report of a body in the river. The body was recovered and taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for identification and autopsy.

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter says that there is no evidence of foul play or criminal activity in connection with Struss' death.

Struss, 64 years old, was reported missing in October 2019.

The cause of his death has not yet been released; we will update you if we get more information.



(OCTOBER 21, 2019) The Great Falls Police Department on Monday night issued a missing person alert for Victor Struss.

In a Facebook post, the GFPD said that Detective Sergeant Beall is asking for help in locating Struss, who has not been seen for approximately 10 days and is considered missing under suspicious circumstances.

All of his vehicles are accounted for and they do not know what he was wearing when last seen.

Anyone with information regarding Struss's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Mahlum at 406-781-8926, visit P3tips.com , or send a private message to the GFPD Facebook page. The GFPD says that no tip is too small and tipsters may remain anonymous.

The GFPD has not released any other information about the case; we will update you if we get more details.
