Got beef? If you enter the Montana Association for the Blind’s raffle, you just might get some!

Volunteers with the Montana Association for the Blind began fundraising in front of Sam’s Club at 10 a.m. on Saturday by selling raffle tickets for selections of beef.

The self-funded club relies on these raffle sales to provide resources to Montanans who’ve lost their vision.

The association is raising money for next year’s summer orientation program, a free course to help the visually impaired overcome the difficulties of daily life.

Heidi Johnson, the president of the Great Falls chapter, explained that this fundraiser not only keeps the program going but introduces the organization to those who might need help living a life without sight.

“You might have an aunt, an uncle, or a family member that’s slowly, slowly losing their sight. We want you to know we’re there. We will help support you. We will find you somebody to talk to and help you get started on your journey.,” Johnson said.

Three years ago, Johnson was a student enrolled in the summer orientation program herself. After attending for two years, she now volunteers to help others deal with the same struggles she faced.

“It made a huge difference in my life, so I want to help others make a huge difference in their lives.”

If you’d like to purchase a raffle ticket for the Montana Association for the Blind, their booth will be set up until 6 p.m. on Saturday. You can also go to Albertsons on October 15, where the association will continue their raffle in honor of White Cane Safety Day, a national holiday celebrating the achievements of the blind.

You can also call them at 406-442-9411 for more information about buying tickets.
