UPDATE: Wildfire near Highway 200 under control.

Officials say a fire burning near mile marker 105 on Highway 200 is now under control.

The fire burned about 200 acres.

Crews are currently mopping up the fire and will turn it over to the county.

A cause for the fire has not been listed.


Firefighters from multiple agencies are responding to wildfire just off Highway 200 in northern Lewis and Clark Co.

Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Helena Unit fire management officer Chris Spliethof said the fire broke out near Mile Marker 105 on Highway 200 just before 4:00 p.m.

Spliethof estimated that by around 4:15 p.m. the fire had burned between 100 and 120 acres in mostly grass.

Firefighters from DNRC, the U.S. Forest Service and local volunteer departments are responding to the fire.

A DNRC helicopter has been assisting fire suppression and crews have requested a bulldozer.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
