Sunday's high-speed pursuit suspect charged

A Helena man has been arrested after an Sunday incident allegedly involving a high-speed pursuit.

37-year-old Robert Fasuga appeared via video in Lewis and Clark Justice Court on Monday., He is facing seven charges including felony Assault on a peace officer and felony criminal endangerment.

Just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, the Lewis and Clark Sheriff’s Office deputies located Fasuga, who had multiple outstanding warrants, at the 5900 block of Del Ray Rd.

According to court documents, Deputies asked him to leave his vehicle and Fasuga revved the engine and lunged the vehicle forward at law enforcement on two separate occasions.

He is then accused of leading deputies and Montana Highway patrol troopers on a high-speed pursuit through town that ended at Helena Campground and R.V. Park.

Sheriff Leo Dutton told MTN when Fasuga exited his vehicle and fled to a nearby trailer house and pointed a gun at himself threatening suicide.

After negotiations with deputies, Fasuga was apprehended peacefully.

Fasuga bond was set at $75,000. He will make his plea before District Court on July 16.
