Fire danger higher Saturday

Posted
and last updated

Many new fires have been started in the past week.

That includes Friday, when a wildfire ignited in the North Hills near Helena.

The hot, dry, weather has been enough to allow fires to start and spread, and we’ll add strong winds into the equation Saturday.

Areas east of the divide will see wind gusts topping 30 miles per hour, in addition to more dry air and highs in the 90s.

This will act to make our fire danger even higher.

A Red Flag Warning will be in effect Saturday, starting between 11am and 1pm, and lasting until 9 pm.

Fires will start and spread very easily in this weather.

Be smart and safe!
