Fire danger is high Wednesday, and will remain high Thursday.

Our Fire Weather Warning (or Red Flag Warning) has been extended to 9 PM Thursday for nearly all of North Central Montana.

Dry, warm, and windy weather will persist.

In these conditions fires can start and spread easily.

In fact, one fire has already started near Big Sandy.

Though burning is only closed in Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, and Toole Counties, it would be safest not to burn until the fire danger is lowered.

Be careful with any open flame or embers, and make sure to keep trailer chains secured and vehicle exhaust away from tall grasses.
