Kyler Olsen of Butte pleaded guilty this week to illegally shooting and killing a mule deer buck that was found dead in Uptown Butte in September 2016, according to a news release from the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Olsen, 20 years old, pleaded guilty to several charges, including unlawful possession, shooting with artificial lights and within city limits, shooting from a vehicle and abandoning a big game animal.
Olsen was fined $11,695 and his hunting, fishing, and trapping license has been suspended for five years.
FWP wardens received a call on the morning of September 12, 2016, of a wounded deer in Uptown.
The animal was found dead on the side of the road in the 400 block of N. Main Street across from the Original Mine Yard.
Investigators were helped by information provided by the public and the tracing of the bullet which was recovered from the deer.
