Governor Steve Bullock (D) will deliver the annual "State Of The State" address on Tuesday evening.

The address will be followed by a response from the Montana Republican Party.

The Montana Legislature, other state elected officials, and invited guests will gather in the House chamber for the speech, which begins at 7 p.m.

Bullock, a Democrat re-elected in November, is expected to emphasize and outline priorities for his second term.

Bullock’s agenda is already facing stiff opposition from the 2017 Legislature as majority Republicans say they won’t accept many key items in his proposed state budget.

Bullock has proposed balancing the budget with tax increases on the wealthy and some controversial fund transfers.

The governor is the only Democrat who won a statewide race last fall as Republicans swept five other statewide contests.
