Authorities are still working to notify family members about the death of a Helena woman who was found dead in the snow outside her home.
The identity of the woman is not being released at this point.
The woman, said to be in her mid-60s, was found at about 1 p.m. in the McHugh Mobile Home Park off of Villard Avenue.
MTN News talked with several people in the area; they said that the woman lived alone and could be seen walking through the neighborhood regularly.
Kristi Lindberg, who is visiting family in the area, said, “It’s just such a tragedy, my heart goes out to her and her family. I can’t imagine being all alone on the holidays but to freeze like that out in the cold and have no one around to help…it makes me sad.”
Coroner Bryan Backeberg says an autopsy will be performed in the next few days to determine the cause and manner of death.
However, he says it appears the woman had been outside since at least the previous night.
