City of Helena employees came together this year to help four families in need.

For more than 30 years, City Staff have held their Adopt-a-Family program as a way to give back to their local community during the holiday season.

“The Adopt-a-Family program is a longstanding tradition for the City of Helena,” noted Human Resources Director, Yolanda Franco. “For over 30 years, City staff has embraced giving back to their local community during the holiday season.”

The City partners with Helena Public School Administrators and School Resource Officers to identify families in need.

Employees, representing every department, voluntarily donated money and gifts to the families in need.

Items vary from toys like bikes or video game, to everyday essentials like clothing.

“It’s really rewarding to know that you’re brightening somebody’s Christmas and holiday season through this,” said Public Information Officer Rebecca Connors. “All these presents are going to be delivered by police cars, firefighter trucks, snow plows, the trolley, even a backhoe is going to have its front end loaded with presents.”

The presents are currently being collected at the City/County Building and will be delivered this Friday to the adopted families.
