Extreme heat expected

Posted: Aug 09, 2018 4:37 PM Updated:

A strong high-pressure ridge remains planted over Montana.

This ridge is expected to continue amplifying on Friday, allowing for near or above record high temperatures by Friday afternoon.

Due to the excessive temperatures, heat advisories and fire weather warnings have been issued for a good portion of Montana.

Hazy skies will linger into the first part of our weekend, however breezy conditions Saturday afternoon should move some of this haze out of our area.

Saturday will be slightly cooler as a cold front passes over the state.

Breezy conditions are expected on the leading edge of this front.

This combined with extremely low humidity levels will only increase the already high fire concern.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 90s Saturday afternoon.

Temperatures will final begin to mellow out on Sunday following the passage of this cold front.

Daytime high temperatures are on track to drop back into the 80s on Sunday.
