One Class At A Time: Alisa Storrar

Alisa Storrar is helping the students of Smith Elementary School to learn how to better express their emotions in healthy ways.

That’s why she’s this week’s One Class at a Time winner.

First Interstate Bank and KXLH recently surprised Storrar at Smith Elementary School with a $250.

The money from the grant will be used to buy counseling specific games that promote social skills, emotional regulation, problem solving skills, and more.

Storrar said helping students foster social and emotional growth plays a big role in their success.

“Kids can’t learn very well if they’re not emotionally regulated and a lot of times we have to meet their social-emotional needs before they can focus on math or science or reading,” said Storrar. “So any sort of resources I can have to help them with that and tools I can give them are good.”

First Interstate Bank and KXLH are proud of another successful year of the One Class at a Time grant program.

Over the 2017-2018 school year, One Class at a Time awarded $9,000 to 36 teachers in the greater Helena area.
