Miss Montana and Miss Montana Outstanding Teen contestants volunteered at Shodair Children's Hospital in Helena on Saturday by painting and doing yard work for Montana's only Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
The Miss America organization partnered with the Children's Miracle Network across the nation for a service day event.
Carroll College athletes also joined in to help.
Miss Montana Maddie Murray said that serving and volunteering is not a punishment.
"It can be the simplest things whether it's five seconds of going and acknowledging somebody or whether it's coming here and painting a room," Murray said. "Service doesn't always just have to affect the recipient but it can affect the donor as well."
Shodair Children's Hospital decorated its building with blue pinwheels to honor National Child Abuse Prevention month.
