Propane explosion reported NE of Helena

The Lewis & Clark County/City of Helena 911 Center says that a propane explosion has been reported near the 3600 block of York Road.

Initial reports indicate that there have been Injuries, according to the 911 Center.

Traffic in the area is being detoured as emergency crews work to help the injured and secure the scene.

The 911 Center says that the explosion involved more than 2,000 gallons of propane

Tara McCrae told MTN News: "There was an explosion near York Road just a few minutes ago. It shook my house."

Bryan Haines posted on Twitter: "Felt building shake then noticed large fire in north valley. Big explosion sounds like. Craziness. Hope everyone is alright."

MTN News has a reporter at the scene; we will update you as we get more information.

(UPDATE, 11:21 a.m.) The Helena 911 Center says that emergency resources are still at the scene and engaged in fire suppression efforts. Water tenders from West Valley VFD and East Valley VFD are working to maintain a constant water supply. The Sheriff’s office has re-opened York Road in the vicinity of Fox Ridge Gold Club.
