One Class At A Time: Jacqui Engstrom

Jacqui Engstrom is helping her high school students learn how smoking affects the body.

That’s why she’s this week’s One Class at a Time recipient.

First Interstate Bank and KXLH recently surprised Engstrom’s class at Capital High School with a $250 check.

The money from the grant will be used to buy a simulated smoker’s lungs demonstration kit to show the effects of smoking.

Engstrom says that she hopes the kit will help impact her students to make smart and healthy choices.

Nine out of ten smokers actually start smoking before the age of 18,” says Engstrom, “So we know that’s a huge impact on high school students and teens, so we want to make sure we’re giving them the tools they need to start making those good choices.”

Engstrom says that she’ll be able to use this kit for years to come and it will be a great tool for the students.
