IHOP raises money for Shodair Children's Hospital

Customers were invited to visit their local IHOP on Tuesday in Helena, Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell to help raise money for Shodair Children's Hospital, Montana's only Children's Miracle Network hospital.

If customers donated to Shodair, they received a free short stack of pancakes.

Capital and Helena high school boys basketball team members held a pancake eating contest.

Peyton Koch, a Capital High player, said he had a strategy for devouring the pancakes.

"One of my friends did it last year and said, 'Fold it' and I just used water to help it go down," Koch said.

Each stack of pancakes helps IHOP reach its goals of raising $5 million for local children's hospitals and health organizations across the United States.

"This is really cool because we don't have an opportunity to give back to the community a lot and this is our time to where we can really come together and help some kids out," Tyler Barnes, IHOP's General Manager in Helena, said.
