Windy conditions to effect north and north central Montana today

Posted: Feb 27, 2018 9:51 AM Updated:

The STORMTracker weather team say winds will continue to be strong today in north central and central Montana, with the highest gusts and blowing/drifting snow to be along the Rocky Mountain Front. There is a Blizzard Warning in effect for the Northern and Southern Rocky Mountain Front. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for now for Eastern Glacier due to the lack of fresh snow on the ground.

Whiteout conditions are possible due to the blowing and drifting snow. Freshly falling snow along the Rocky Mountain Front, generally around 3-6 inches in the mountains, will also contribute to reduced visibilities today.

Gusts can reach between 50-60 miles per hour throughout the day, along the Rocky Mountain Front.

Windy conditions will continue throughout the region today and diminishing later this evening.

High temperatures will be rising up into the 30s for Helena today but this is still about 10 degrees below normal. Besides windy conditions we will see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day.
