As the countdown continues to meteorologist Mike Rawlins' final forecast, Great Falls continues to support his big move.
The Roadhouse Diner featured a burger in Mike's name called the FFB (Fried Forecast Burger) Rawlins on Saturday.
What's in it? It's a single patty topped with American cheese, burnt bacon, a fried egg, dill pickle, tomato, and crossroads sauce.
This is Mike's go-to burger every time he goes to the Roadhouse.
After nearly seven years at KRTV, Mike Rawlins is moving on to a new job.
Rawlins has accepted the position of executive producer of weather at WNBC in New York City.
Rawlins was hired in June of 2011 as a reporter and meteorologist at KRTV, and quickly moved into a full-time meteorologist position.
Since then, Rawlins has built KRTV’s weather team into one of Montana’s most respected places for viewers to receive an accurate weather forecast.
Before arriving at KRTV, Rawlins spent time forecasting for KMIZ-TV and KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rawlins attributes his success and work ethic to his mother, Susan. “She taught me to persevere no matter the obstacles,” Rawlins says. “This is bittersweet. Montana has always supported me.”
KRTV’s news director Eric Gaylord says this is a great loss for Montanans: “His unique ability to educate viewers while keeping them safe is a standard we will continue to uphold. We are proud of Mike and congratulate him on this great personal opportunity.”
Rawlins will continue forecasting throughout the month of February.
His final KRTV forecast will be at 10pm on Friday, March 2nd.
Viewers will have several chances to bid farewell to Rawlins.
Throughout February, we will feature “Mike’s Moments," a look back at some of his highlights covering Montana weather.
