Rincon shares business success story at Carroll College

HELENA – After experiencing somewhat of a quarter life crisis and unsure what to do for a living, fourOsix founder Alex “Papu” Rincon decided he wanted to open his own business.

That was 10 years ago, and now it’s easy to find his clothing and stickers all around town.

Rincon pioneered the Montana lifestyle brand and Thursday he reflected on that process for young entrepreneurs at Carroll College that are perhaps hoping to follow in his footsteps.

Rincon told students when he started fourOsix, no brands were really embracing the Montana style of apparel.

He saw that niche and ran with it by creating hats, sweatshirts and stickers embedded with the now familiar fourOsix logo.

Since then, the U.S. Small Business Administration honored Rincon as Montana’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Downtown Helena Inc. honored him as Helena’s business person of the year.

Rincon said Thursday’s presentation was about helping out the students since he was once in their shoes.

“I didn’t really have a lot of resources to go to as far as people to talk with about opening up a business and creating a company. So, I really want to answer what they want to know,” Rincon said.

Rincon answered students questions regarding securing funding from banks for a start-up and how many hours he works during a typical week.

Rincon has also been asked to be the keynote speaker at the Small Business Opportunity Workshop at the University of Montana and as the Entrepreneur in Residence for the school of business at Montana State University.
