Sheriff's Office warns of scam

Posted: Feb 08, 2018 11:53 AM Updated:

The Cascade County Sheriff's Office says that scammers are again targeting people in and around our community.

Sheriff Bob Edwards shared the following information on Thursday:

It has been brought to my attention that another scam is rearing its ugly head out there. With this scam, an unknown person calls you claiming to be from NW Energy. This person then says that you have 30 minutes to pay them or they will shut off your power. It is a scare tactic.

NW Energy has been contacted and they confirmed that they do not do business this way. So please use caution when receiving calls like this. If in doubt, hang up and call the business that these scammers are claiming to be to confirm if the call is legitimate. Please be careful. I do not want to see any of you fall victim to these criminals.
