Helena Public Schools have implemented an early release for Thursday due to the possible hazardous road conditions.

If your child rides the bus, please see the below information from the school district.

Also, the district has canceled classes for tomorrow, February 9th, according to Lewis & Clark County/City of Helena 911 Center.

Please drive safe and give yourself plenty of extra time to get to your destination if you do need to be out during this time.

Helena Public School #1 Transportation posted the following message on Facebook just after 11 a.m. on Thursday:

With the Helena School District utilizing the Early Release schedule for today, please expect your child's bus to arrive at approximately the same time as they would on any Monday.

Schools will be released as follows:
CRA/HMS 2:15 pm
All other schools (preschool included): 2:30 pm

Expect buses 30-45 minutes before their normal drop off time.

STORMTracker Weather team says it will continue raining this morning and early afternoon in the Helena valley before temperatures decrease rapidly from the 40s to the 20s and teens. Wet untreated roadways are expected to freeze instantly. Depending on the movement of the cold front, this is likely to happen between 11 AM and 2 PM.

It will start to snow shortly after the temperatures drop, sticking to roadways and other surfaces, making roads even more hazardous to travel on.

The heaviest snow for the Helena Valley will be this evening into tomorrow morning. Visibilities can be reduced at times.
