Winter storm will bring hazardous travel conditions

Posted: Feb 07, 2018 9:54 AM Updated:

Although temperatures warm up a bit today to the 30's and 40's in central Montana, another winter storm is looming on the horizon.

Temperatures will be in the 30's today for Helena before another round of frigid air starts to moves in tomorrow.

Colder air along with widespread accumulating snow moves in tonight, starting off in the Havre and Lewistown areas and moving south and westward on Thursday to make its way in to the Central and Southwest portions of the state. Mixed precipitation is possible Wednesday night in Central Montana and for some areas including Helena on Thursday before transitioning to all snow.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of the state Thursday morning through Friday evening - see map in video. With a Winter Storm Watch comes the potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

Snow will continue Thursday night into Friday and temperatures will drop and are expected to be frigid for Friday.

The STORMTracker Weather Team will keep you updated and informed.

See video for snow amounts. These amounts will be updated accordingly through tonight and tomorrow.
