Lingering snow throughout your Monday

Posted: Feb 05, 2018 9:40 AM Updated:

The start of your work week includes more snow as a Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory are in effect for Helena until this evening at 5 PM. Your morning and evening commutes can be messy while roads will be snow covered and due to the freezing rain that occurred last night, roads will also be very icy. Take it slow and give yourself plenty of time to reach your next destination. Visibilities can also be significantly reduced in snowy and foggy conditions.

Snow will generally be light to moderate today. Heavy snow can be expected briefly this morning across Southwestern Montana north of I-90.

Helena can expect another 1-3 inches through Tuesday morning. Snow will be off and on today and tonight and ending with lingering light snow showers tomorrow morning.

Cooler temperatures today due to a a northerly flow aloft. Temperatures will remain consistent throughout the day, staying in the teens in Helena.

Warmer air for Wednesday then another cold front moving in the state for Thursday. With this cold front comes another chance for a widespread accumulating snow event. There is also a chance for wintry mix with this next storm. The STORMTracker Weather Team will keep you updated on snow for today and for later on in the week.

Box Elder Public Schools, Rocky Boy Public Schools, and Chester-Joplin-Inverness Public Schools have cancelled classes for Monday due to the winter weather.

Havre School District posted to social media that classes will start two hours late.
